Father's Day

As Father’s Day approaches my mind has turned to my wife and children, my posterity, not in a boastful manner of my legacy, but in pride of who my children have become. It is said that each generation becomes stronger and grows taller than the previous. So it is true with my children. They have grown stronger in their commitment and service to Our Heavenly Father, with their unwavering testimonies of the role of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Each has chosen outstanding spouses to accompany them thorough this mortal journey and on to Eternal Life.
I as their father cannot wish for more! They have given Suzanne and me, nine beautiful grandchildren who are constantly guided and instructed in the ways of the Lord. Jointly they lead by example, teaching their children the correct gospel principles and preparing them for their life’s journey.
Honestly I had not prepared myself for being a husband, or a father. And, I defiantly wasn’t ready to be a grandfather, nor did I mentally welcome it. However, as one of the blessings in the Holy Temple reminds us “you will find joy in my posterity.” I have! It makes our hearts smile as we watch, listen and observe our grandchildren.
My heart is overflowing as I reflect on what my sweet wife and children have given me. I am a blessed man.
This is dedicated to my eternal companion Suzanne, and to our children and spouses. Jack and Danielle; Travis and Julie; and Marcie and Jeff.

We received about 10" of snow. Our neighbor came over with his tractor and scraped the driveway. Saving this oldman from getting a heart attak. Sure is wonderful to have a neighbor like that.

Danielle made a Harry Potter birthday for Jack’s Birthday, with all kinds of magic stuff like black licorice wands, butter beer (ICB Cream Soda), and magic ice cream cake. We all enjoyed all the goodies and sharing the calibration of his 35th birthday.

Mom decided that it was time for Elly to come over and spend the night and some on-on-one time with Nana. I don't know who had the most fun. They played together and Elly helped Mom get ready for the Sunbeam lesson for Sunday. They read books and put together puzzles. Mom fixed her hair so cute after her bath, but I didn't think about taking pictures until Sunday morning while she was eating breakfast. He little pig tails came out during the night, but she still is cute as ever.

Papa's Birthday

Danielle and the kids made me a Birthday sign. They came over and hung it on the back door before I came home from work today. It made my heart smile. I had a great birthday. My boss took me out for lunch, my coworkers gave me a nice card, and Suzie made me a fantastic dinner. All of my children called and wished me a "Happy Birthday," and a washed and waxed my new Miata. Life doesn't get much better than this.

Elly's Preschool Program

Last night Suzie and I took Elly to her end of the year Preschool Program. Elly was so cute!! She sang all the songs and performed so well with her class.

Memorial Day

We had Jack, Danielle and the kids over Monday. A few of our friends came over too. I smoked some pork ribs and chicken and ate until we couldn't move. Afterwards when the kids were playing I quickly grabbed the camera. They had such a great time. Jack really takes care of Katy and help her swing beside him.

Jack and I went to visit Jack's kids today. We got a few pictures. Elly and James helped themselves to some cake that was put away. Just look at their faces for the evidence. Katy is walking well now. Little Jack still loves to carry her around.

VIRginia International Raceway

A few weeks ago I went to the VIRginia International Raceway. I just had to have a picture in front of the Mazdaspeed garage. The pit crew talked to us for several minutes telling us all about the cars set up, build and performance.

We got some snow yesterday and last night. Suzie went out and took some nice pictures; of course Jake had to be right there to help her. This is one of a few that we will post.

Foot Surgery

OK as everyone can tell it’s been quite some time since I’ve updated our Blog. As all of you know that when we were out visiting Marice & Jeff for Halloween I fell on their stairs and broke my foot. Well it didn’t heal so my doctor went in and added some man-made compound, and screwed a brace to connect the broken bone. He took some pictures after the surgery and I thought that it would be neat to add them to my blog for all to see.

Christmas morning was such a joy as we all watched Katelyn and Alia take turns opening their presents. Each expressed so much joy and excitement for each other’s gifts, and their own. They behaved so well. Suzie and I are truly experiencing the blessing of the Gospel as we are finding joy in our posterity.

On Christmas Eve, just before bedtime, Katelyn and Alia performed a reenactment of the birth of Jesus. Of course Tara played the part of the baby wrapped in swaddling clothes. It was so cute and they took their roles very serious. It sure helped us remember the true meaning of Christmas.

Lunch at Landon's school

Suize and I had a few days off from work and decided to fly out and visit Landon & Blake, and of course Marcie & Jeff. Friday we went to Landon’s school and eat lunch with him. It’s a very nice school and he was so excited to have Nan & Papa Roe to come and eat with him.

The weather was absolutely beautiful, and the people were normal, it made us miss Texas sooo much. We had a blast playing with the kids outside in backyard; we even saw a few hot-air balloons flying near by.

Their new home is breath taking, except for the stairs. The bottom step is the same dark color as the floor. Several times I messed the bottom step as I came down the stairs. The on the fourth time missing the step I fell and broke a bone in my foot. Finally Marice decided to make it more visible for me. Check it out.

Light Saber Fight

Sun Room Project

The sun room is coming closer to completion. I finished installing ceramic tile flooring. We painted before selecting the floor tile and now we need to repaint the yellow walls. The pictures came out a little fuzzy, but you can get an idea of how our project is coming. Jake thinks I’m doing this for him.

Surf Side Beach, NC

We all went together and rented a large house very close to the beach. It had its own pool which everyone enjoyed more than the beach. The weather was wonderful with a cool ocean breeze that blew every day.

Jack, Travis , Jeff and I enjoyed knocking around a few balls at this nice little 9-hole, par 3 course called Tupelo Bay. It was very close to the house we rented and had a very nice setting.

Jack’s Preschool Graduation

Jack’s preschool had their graduation ceremony Thursday evening. The entire class participated in a short program consisting of sing a few songs with some cute animations. They looked as cute as they march around singing and then for the formal graduation ceremony they all had on their caps and gowns.

Suzie bought me a new Bar B-Que grill today so we had Jack, Danielle come over for some hamburgers and links.

After eating little Jack and daddy went in the backyard and played super warriors with some bamboo we cut down. They each had a great time sword fighting and pretending wounding each other. James and Elie enjoyed the swing, slide and just running around. Of course Nana thoroughly enjoyed holding Katy, and Jake was infatuated with her.

Sunday, Mom invited Jack and Danielle over for lunch and to watch conference. We feed the kids first and then after we eat Jack and Danielle went into the bedroom to watch conference while Suzie and I played with the kids. We put together puzzles first, which James is extremely good at showing Nana what peaces went where. Then we moved onto Play-Doh. As you can you can see by the pictures they had a get time.

Easter 2008

Jack and Danielle invited us over for Easter dinner today. The kids were so excited about the Bunny cake Suzie made for them. Jack and Danielle baked a ham, scalloped potatoes, and cream corn. Yummy, was so good. Suzie fixed some fresh fruit, pineapple, cantaloupe, grapes and some fruit dip. Of course we all eat too much. All the kids eat well, but couldn’t wait for the cake.

We woke up to a nice blanket of snow this morning. I just had to step out and take a few pictures. Jake had a great time running around in the backyard. If you look closely you can see that he’s smiling as he runs through the snow.

Sunday after church, and lunch, it was so nice that we took the kids outside to play. They had a ball riding the bike, scooter and tractor up and down the driveway. Times like this really make Nana & Papas' hearts to smile.

We recently celebrated James’ birthday. Although Jack & Ellie were there I focused on James in all the pictures. He loves trains so Nana made a cake and Papa decorated it as a Train. He loved it as you can tell. All the kids had to get a piece with a wheel, even Daddy Jack. James had fun pushing the train box around the room. Then after Papa and Jack III put the track together James was engrossed in the operating the track switches as he made the train travel around on the different circuits.

We went to Jack and Danielle's house for FHE tonight. After the lesson, we all went for a picnic at Lake Reidsville. The boys had a lot of fun with the fishing pole! James and Ellie enjoyed running up and down the pier and aound the picnic area. We also enjoyed feeding the ducks some bread. The sky was really pretty. It was a fun evening!

These are some pictures from our vist to Marcie & Jeff's during Spring Break 2007. Your will notice that there are not too many pictures of Marcie and Jeff. We had a great time playing with Landon and Blake, and just watching them have fun. The scene in the kitchen with Suzie and the boys was a pizza making project. When you see Landon and Blake with buckets in the playroom that was an Easter Egg Hunt.
